This post is heading-less. *Oops, did I just give it a heading?*

So I was nagging Aditi the other day about the fact that she should write a post fast and she was like - okay fine, type it now. Mind you, we had gone for shopping on a hot sunny afternoon, walked a gazillion miles and were finally sitting on a bus stop as we had no other place to sit and hang out. The joys. Anyways, these were her exact words...well kind of, “Shopping is fun. You get out of your house, walk so-very-much and come back with nothing but an empty Coke bottle."

Since my salad days, I have always been against drinking Pepsi. In fact, I used to stop my dad from having coke as well. At that time, someone had drilled (most probably a teacher) into my head that coke and the likes are bad for health.

Surprisingly, I finally had coke (or was it thumbs up?) after years, that day. And the funniest bit? I thought that if you shook the bottle, and opened it bit by bit, the fizz would calm down and you would be able to open the bottle unscathed. Clearly I was wrong. The minute I opened the bottle, it almost started pouring out. Aditi was quite obviously amused and angry at the same time about how I really believed that the fizz would slow down, but in the end, after a decade of letting the fizz crawl out, we were finally able to drink it. Even though it tasted like cola and water, it was heaven in the scorching heat!

[The following information has been collected from various websites and a TV show. I have just put it all together and re-written it to make stuff a tad bit interesting :) Oh, and I haven't verified anything. Yet.]

Anyways, remember the saying - drink wine, save water? Many people replace 'wine' with 'soda'. Surprisingly, it takes 2 liters of water to make just 1 liter of Coke. And this happens when millions of people these days are dying of thirst. :/

I guess the fact that Coke/Pepsi/Thumbs up* can be used to remove corrosion from batteries, clean up used pans and scrap off the rust of cycles is quite popular. But I doubt the fact that it is a remedy for hiccups is.

Some people say that the active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid whose pH is 2.8 that could dissolve a nail in about four days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis. What bothers me is I don't know whether this is completely true. Some places argue it isn't and some say it is. I guess, the only way to know for sure is to experiment ourselves. I sure will and get back soon!

Kanksha :)

I found this website pretty interesting - http://members.tripod.com/barefoot_lass/cola.html So all you coke lovers can go have a look :P

*Many people may argue that Coke, Pepsi and Thumbs up have remarkable differences. Honestly, I don't know if there are any. To me, they all look the same. Hence, could someone please do the honours and tell me what the differences are? :P

Shapes of the fizz look as beautiful as snowflakes!

The Underworld is colourful! (o)_(o)

I never thought that I would want to find out how the inside of a gutter looks like. Apparently, I was wrong. Just a few days ago, on my way to collage, I saw a few pipes going down a gutter at a construction site! And my! Weren't they colourful! Just like chocolate, colour always grabs ones' attention. These unique pipes (unique, since I have seen only green or orange pipes before this rare occurrence) were just begging me to take a picture of them!

When I gave it a thought, I figured gutters may be an interesting place to have a peek at. If we can somehow eliminate the nose scrunching smell, get airtight clothes as well as glasses that can see through mud, and assuming someone has the courage to go down there, who knows what all one could find. With the exception of leftover food, and tones of plastic degrading at a snail's pace, there could be lost rings that were thought to be stolen, treasure of the 1850s that was hidden in some shady corner, secret passages that are waiting to be found and what not! Guys, for once just let your imagination go wild! The underground, in the end, could maybe turn out to be a detective or historians' paradise! XD

Before I go, and you guys resume doing whatever you were doing, I'll tell you something I just realised. We all study about the history of different countries, some of us know about the history of our favourite sports and how they evolved....but how many of us know about the history of gutters?? Next to none, eh?

This post is dedicated to every family's superwoman - MOM :)

I have had quite a histrory with illnessess. In Grade 4, I was down with Malaria, Typhoid struck me in Grade 6 and another mosquito decided to bite me once again to keep me under the covers in Grade 8 as well. But I guess these days made me look at my parents in a different way - I saw how much they cared for me, how many pains they went through and how each and every detail was kept in mind.

The following is a poem I had written for my mom when I had typhoid :

My mother is so wise,
She is so nice,
Even in my food,
She puts no spice!

She helps me in my studies,
She sends me to dance,
Without her, in elocution,
I would never get a chance!

My mother always prefers
to wear cotton,
And throws away everything that has become useless and rotten!

My mother is so sweet,
And lets us be naughty,
She even lets,
my sister do 'Gulati'! :P

My mom works as a housewife,
Though she is an engineer,
Her work, Oh! So hectic!
How she does it I wonder! *Open Mouthed*

My mom doesnt really like hotels,
Though she loves to roam..
Sadly, wherever she goes,
She forgets to take her phone! XD (not really anymore!)

Her height is tall,
Her hair is long,
I really hope she has enjoyed this song! :)

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO ALL THE MOTHERS IN THE WORLD AND BEYOND! :D

Kanksha :)

I may not say it often, but Mummy and Pappa, I love you <3

Yup, A Doughnut = A Coffee Mug.

I bet most of you guys didn't know about this equation, a famous one mind you, which comes from Topology: A Doughnut = A Coffee mug. Strange, isn't it? I wouldn't blame you as that is exactly how I felt the first time I read it.

Topology is a branch of geometry which deals with the properties of figures that remain unchanged even when the shape is altered. By altering I mean moulding without tearing, glueing or creating holes! For example, lets take clay. You can make a ball, then deform the same clay to make a cube and remould the same lump of it to make a pyramid! Similarly, a circle, rectangle and triangle are all topologically equal!

Coming back to our doughnut, can you guess why it is topologically equal to a mug now? If you think about it a bit further, you will realise it is also equal to a needle or a straw!

One of the objective of topology is the classification of surfaces. We have all heard of 2D and 3D. These days we even have people selling tickets to 7D films (I wonder what 7D actually means!). But let's take a step back and think about 1D (NOT One Direction - One Dimension).

I suggest you grab a sheet of paper and scissors and try this our yourself while reading this. Take a peice of paper and tear a strip of paper about 8-12 inches long and 1 inch wide. Give it a half twist and tape the edges. The fascinating part of this pretty humdrum looking figure is that it has only one side. One edge. And hence one dimension. Discovered by Mathematicians August Mobius and Johann Listing independently, the MOBIUS BAND has become legendry! ;)

The mobius band is an interesting figure,
You can make it by twisting a strip of paper!
To find the end of the edge, you'll go on looking till eternity,
In fact, IT is the symbol of infinity!

Go ahead and slit it from in between,
Before you is a sight you wouldn't have believed,
The mobius band which should have divded into two,
Has now turned into a large single loop!

If you cut the band with two twists from the middle,
You will end up shocked,
Instead of getting two of them separately..
You will get two bands, with each other, locked!

Anyways, thinking of doughnuts and coffee has made me hungry! But you guys carry on exploring Topology and Mobius band! Tell me if you discover anything!

Kanksha :)

Sorry about the (non)comments.

To Mr/Miss anonymous(s), we are extremely sorry but due to some unknown reason, we are unable to comment.

Yes, the mystery picture was of chowpatty beach :) Good guessing!!

And remember in the first post we had mentioned lighting an LED with a lemon? The trick was to insert an LED into a green lemon. The LED was supposed to light up. On trying what we had seen on YouTube, we saw it didn't work. Yet, if anyone does see a spark, do send us an email on hilariouslyuseless@gmail.com !

One last thing, all our readers, thanks for your time ;)
Do continue commenting, we will figure something out soon!!

Twilight. Sucks. .........Not.

For all you guys who didn’t know, I love reading. You give me a book anywhere, anytime, and as long as it is worthwhile, I'll give it a shot.

Just as I read Twilight.

Yes my friends, two days ago, I decided to take the rollercoaster to the world of Bella and Edward because I wanted to see

1)      How pathetic it actually is.

2)      The level of exaggeration these days.

3)      If I could manage to complete such an 'awful' book or not.

My Review: Twilight is NOT that bad a book. I must have read dozens of books (not twelve - many twelves :P) and I have found and enjoyed other books better but that gives no right to people to make a laughing stock out of Twilight. For those who haven't read Twilight, I'm sure you are aware that is a story about vampires, how Edward Cullen, a cold blood (aka vampire) and Bella, a muggle or human being like you and me fall in love. It is, a kind of cliché story where the knight in shining armour arrives exactly on time and saves the day, and as I have heard a love triangle soon develops and so does an unknown (before the Twilight saga came out) enmity of vampires and werewolves spring up...but on the whole, I would give it 3 stars out of 5.

PS: Balderdash is an amazing word. And so is Gobblefunk.

Kanksha :)

*: Read only in desperate conditions!
**: Nah. Too boring.
***: Hmmm..Not bad, but could be better.
        Worth a try though!
****: Definitely a good read!
*****: Simply amazing. A MUST READ.

Lazybones, wake up and do something!

I haven't uploaded recently, right? That's because of a pile of homework which is always pushing me down. Around 30 sums a day is no joke! Not including 6hrs of coaching thrice a week! The funny thing is, all my other friends who have nothing to do (and are as we Indians say 'lukkha') are wasting away their time, getting bored with lassitude filling their bones and are doing no interesting stuff. Interesting could mean anything...

You could go and watch a Gujarati play, make a website of your own with stuff that interests you, call your friends over and dance to some thumping beats or even get divided into two teams and have a competition of who sells more lemonade at the beach! But no. Everyone just sits and does nothing. They have all the time on the world and have nothing to do, and here I am brimming with ideas without enough time, going on off days to the library to do homework.

Actually, I guess in a twisted way I am kind of lucky. I utilise all my free time and have a blast doing random crap or hanging out with friends and study at the same time! In that way I don't even get lost in the cunning web of boredom :)

So to all those people who have nothing to do, get some permission to do graffiti in your society or make a band and compose kickass songs! Just when you become famous, don't forget me, 'Kay? ;)
